Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit in the round, Stitches - YO, K2tog, SSK, K2togtbl, Stretchy cast on & bind off

Pattern Description:

The Garland Cowl was designed with my "beautiful daughter" in mind. This cowl has a wonderful drape. It is long enough to be worn long or twisted & looped.

Note: Using a stretchy cast on and bind off is highly recommended.

Gauge is not really required for this pattern as long as you are knitting with worsted yarn. To shorten or lengthen Cowl you will want to decrease/increase by 14 stitches for this pattern to work.


4 - 4.5 stitches per inch in Garter Stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 7.5 X 60 inches (after blocking)


  • 200 yards of worsted/heavy worsted yarn, 10.5 (6.5 mm) 29' circular needle

You Will Also Need:

  • stitch marker, darning needle

Suggested yarn:

200 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Wool/bamboo or silk blends
