Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knitting in the round
  • increasing stitches
  • decreasing stitches
  • cables


Gauge (after blocking)
20 sts x 24 rows over 10 cm/4 in Stockinette Stitch worked in the round with needle 5 mm/US #8.
Take time to save time, check your gauge.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • One size To fit head circumference: 52-56 cm/21-22.


  • Yarn 1 skein of Madelinetosh Erin Heritage Wool (116 g/240y, 100% wool) or any other heavy worsted weight yarn. Sample was made in color Candlewick.

You Will Also Need:

  • Needles 5 mm/US #8 or size needed for gauge, dpns or 40 cm/16 circular and needles for small circumference at crown. 4 mm/US #6 or 2 sizes smaller than gauge needles, dpns or 40 cm/16 circular.
  • Other cable needle, stitch marker, tapestry needle, pompom maker (optional).

Suggested yarn:

180 yards of Worsted weight
