How many stitches do you cast on? I don't see the instructions.

Such a cute pattern! I just knit the tops of the booties and I'm working on the soles. When the pattern says Row 1: Knit every row until piece measures 2 1/2"(or more), should I knit for 2 1/2 (or more, depending on size) and then proceed to row 2? Or, should I knit rows 1 to 4 until the piece measures 2 1/2" (or more)?

Thank you for the kind words!

Knit Row 1 until you have reached your desired sole length, then proceed to Row 2.

For some reason I am so confused about sewing these up, specifically how to turn the cast on edge for the top part of the bootie?
Also do you measure in inches? The ones I knit for 9-12 months seem huge, especially the sole. I can't wait to finish them! Super cute

do you have suggestions for turning this pattern into a crochet project?

Sheila Zachariae on craftsy.com

I would just follow the size information on the pattern. Meaning, however wide one section is, crochet to that width. Then however long it is, crochet to that length. I hope that makes sense.

I have made these before, and they turn out really cute. I love adding the fortunes and take out box also, however, I'd like to make them using a bit lighter weight yarn, (3) instead of (4) worsted, but there is no gauge on the pattern. Can you please tell me what the gauge should be so I can figure out what size needles to use. Thanks!

Would it be possible to upload a picture of what the booties should look like just after sewing cast on edge to bind off edge? I saw your answer to a previous question regarding "Turn cast on edge a half turn..." But I think my disconnect is I'm looking at the pictures to see if I've done it correctly, but the pictures already have the sole and are fully completed. Thank you for your help =)

I'm afraid I do not have tutorial photos for this pattern. If you are still struggling, why don't you send me an email with a photo of where you are in the process...sheilazachariae@gmail.com

I am having difficulty understanding how to complete this step: "Turn cast on edge a half turn and sew to bind off edge..." Looked on youtube, no video. Asked a knitter friend, she wasn't able to help. Help please.

You are sewing the cast on edge to the bind off edge. Lay it out flat, now bring one edge up, turn it and place it down on the other edge. I hope this helps.

The booties are very cute, and look extremely easy, but the instructions don't tell how many stitches to cast on, or how long to make the piece that needs to be sewn together.

Hum. I'm not sure what you are referring to. The pattern does, indeed, give all that information. Am I note understanding your note?

Pattern does not give how many stitches to cast on. Row 1 I see is you knit till you reach desired length but what is Row 2 another piece to knit separately from the soles?
