Basic Skills Necessary:

  • do stranded knitting with at most two colors in the round
  • knit and purl, knit through backloop
  • decrease and increase

Pattern Description:

Already in knitting mood for valentine(tm)s day? Or just like to knit a symbol of your love for your loved ones?

Then this little simple rectangular cowl might just be the project you are looking for.
It has love bird pairs and kissing kid(tm)s couples all around and there is a simple small heart border pattern to go along with it.

I knitted it in 4-ply Acrylic yarn (214 yards/50g). Alternatively you can use 4-ply sock yarn or Merino.

2 sizes are included but there are also notes for making it smaller or wider (infinity scarf like) and also shorter.

Gauge: 7 stitches and 8 rows = 1 x 1 inch in stranded knitting.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Length: 2 x 29 cm (58 cm) (29 cm front and 29 cm back) Height: 18 cm (size M) Size L will be 2 x 34 cm (68 cm) (34 cm front and 34 cm back) Height : 18 cm Note: I knitted size M.
  • The cowl is adjustable in size and lenght. Notes on about how to do it are included in the pattern


  • You need 4-ply Acrylic yarn (I used Buttinette Versailles 214 yards/50g 196m/50g). You can also use Merino yarn, other yarn of similar weight or 4-ply sock yarn (then the cowl will get smaller or wider depending on the yarn): 25 g in dark blue 25 g in off-white, 20 g in red
  • Circular needle 40 cm 3.00 mm
  • tapestry needle to weave in the ends
