Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, increase/decrease

Pattern Description:

A rectangle shawl in two sizes petite(tall) with allover floral and fern patterns with a horizontal insect motif insert. Stole is begun with a provisional cast-on at center back and worked down to the hem, with an applied (knitted on) lace edging at the bottom hem.
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in shawl size.


24 sts and 32 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch (unblocked)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 22(25)" W x 74(84)" L (stretched and blocked)


  • 1200(1500) yards / 1080(1350 mts) of laceweight yarn that has 175-210 yards per ounce
  • Needles: size 6US (4.0 mm) 24" circular needles, or size to obtain correct gauge size 4US (3.5 mm) 24" circular needle for edging (or two sizes smaller than body needle)
