This simple and chic design was inspired (and requested) by my favorite Fashionknista, Lindsay. She saw something similar in a fashion magazine, listed at an outrageous price, and asked me to create something similar - using luscious luxury yarns. Well, how could I say 'no' to a cashmere earmuff?
Thus, Fashionknitsta was born!
Knit it the round, this "elegant earmuff" is knit from tie to tie, starting with a provisional cast on and ending with a 3-needle bind off. It can be done with one skein of your favorite luxury yarn - as a treat to yourself or another!
Directions include three yarn weight options - fingering, sport, and DK. Samples shown were knit using one skein each of Shibui Knits Baby Alpaca DK in the color "Seaweed" and Rowan Felted Tweed DK in the color "Seafarer".
Fingering weight: 32 sts & 48 rnds = 4" / 10 cm in st st
Sport weight: 24 sts & 32 rnds = 4"/ 10 cm in st st
DK weight: 22 sts & 28 rnds = 4"/ 10 cm in st st
I love socks, lace, and all sorts of "traditional" knitting subjects. I studied Classics and textile history (independent minor) at Uni and have a love of anything ancient. That said, I also like to mix it up with modern shapes and silhouettes, often with a little tradition thrown in for fun.
