i wanted a large scale lace shawl...something kind of like a blanket to wrap up in on the cold winter nights that are a'comin'. this definitely fits the bill. worsted weight yarn with a pretty lace pattern and garter stitch edges worked on big needles. it makes for a great "blanket" just what i needed.
the pattern gives a suggested stopping point for a bit smaller shawl. you could stop that lace at whatever point you wish to create a more "normal" sized shawl.
3 skeins + a dribble of paton's classic wool in russet
13 sts x 12 rows = 4 inches in lace pattern (lightly blocked)
72 x 32 inches (lightly blocked)
a little note:** i steam blocked mine, which gave it a little stretch and shape. wet blocking will really enlarge the shawl even more. please keep that in mind when knitting. actually think that i am going to go back and wet block mine. (i want BIG.) i will try to post the dimensions on that after i do it. thanks.*
13 sts x 12 rows = 4 inches in lace pattern
680 yards of Worsted weight
