Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit
  • Purl
  • yo= yarn over
  • Drop stitches

Pattern Description:

This rectangular shawl or stole features horizontal Garter stitch stripes on a Stockinette stitch background and dropped stitch "eyes."

This pattern is a pretty minimal (yet striking) one aside from the "eye" design and is perfect for highlighting the inherent beauty of hand-dyed yarns like Bugga! from Cephalopod Yarns.


24 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished shawl measures approximately 37.5" x 11".


  • 400 yards of Sport weight or Fingering yarn
  • Size 4 knitting needles
