Skill Level:

little skill level requirement Novice

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Cast on, change color, bind off

Pattern Description:

Evan is a garter stitch scarf suitable for beginning to advanced beginning knitters. Since Evan is knit sideways, with the MY doubled, it's a good project for the beginning knitter who wants to shake things up a little, but not so much that he/she will feel overwhelmed. Some techniques learned in this project:

~sideways knitting
~changing colors
~knitting with two strands of yarn (except for the stripes, which are knit with one strand)

Alpaca yarns give this scarf it's wonderful softness and incredible warmth. It is a smoother fiber than wool, giving it a luster and drape that many wools lack.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 60" long, 5.5" wide

  • 400-450 yds of a smooth (alpaca) worsted wieght yarn
  • 110-130 yds of a bulky alpaca boucle yarn
  • US 10 Circular Needle, 32"

You Will Also Need:

  • tapestry needle

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Classic Elite Inca Alpaca; Plymouth Yarn Alpaca Boucle

Brown heather, Charcoal
