Basic Skills Necessary:

  • cast on
  • knitting in the round
  • working with circular needle
  • working with double pointed needles
  • knit
  • purl
  • yarn over
  • k2tog
  • k3tog
  • p2tog

Pattern Description:

Emmi is a slouchy beanie/toque with a garter stitch brim and crown. An umbrella-like pattern runs up above the right eye, the rest is simple stockinette stitch. Emmi is casual and yet feminine. This pattern is great for beginners and knits up quite fast.


20 stitches x 28 rounds in stockinette stitch for a 4x4" (10x10cm) swatch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • one size, fits head circumference of 211/2"-223/4" (55cm-58cm)


  • US 7/4.5 mm circular needle of 16"/40cm length
  • 5 DPNs US 7/4.5 mm
  • approximately 110-140 yards/100-130 m of a worsted weight yarn

You Will Also Need:

  • 11 stitch markers, one of them from a different kind or color
  • tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Suggested yarn:

140 yards of Worsted weight
