When the Charity Donation Coordinator for our chapter of The Knitting Guild Association put out an appeal for warm, easily washable hats for a local church's charity drive, I came up with this hat with a festive flower embellishment.
The hat is a basic knitted-in-the-round design and the flower is an easy knit. I'm offering this pattern for free in the hope you will download it and make a hat for a person in need. Of course if you're going to knit this for a man or boy, you can knit this up without the flower. I think a pom pom perched on top would also be festive!
As with all my designs, if you have any questions as you work up the design, please let me know. I want you to enjoy your knitting experience and end up with a successful project.
I hope you will make something wonderful to keep somebody warm this winter.
In stockinette stitch, 20 stitches and 27 rows = 4 inches (10 cm).
210 yards of Worsted weight

I am certified as a Level 1 Master Hand Knitter by The Knitting Guild Association. My grandmother Lena taught me to knit when I was 4 years old and told me that a lifetime of knitting pleasure was her legacy to me. I love to design and knit and enter my work in competitions. I've won numerous awards and ribbons over the years and that's a lot of fun, but the greatest pleasure is the actual creative process. I specialize in Beginner and Intermediate level designs that teach new skills and promote excitement for the art that is Knitting. I think new knitters should have the opportunity to work with a well-written design that reinforces their current skills, teaches them new skills and gets a "WOW, you made that?!!?" response when showing off their completed project.
