Pattern Description:

Let me take you on a trip around the world. All you need is a comfortable armchair to sit in, some time, knitting needles and a skein of wonderful Colour Adventures yarn.
I am taking you to Ireland. A country of beautiful emerald hills and high sea cliffs, a country of fantastic cables and green Leprechaun. So take your needles in your hands and get ready to set off on a wonderful one-skein journey!

Eachtraocht is an Irish word for adventure.

Gauge:

Sizes toddler and teen/adult:
26 sts x 32 rows in 10 cm / 4 in cable pattern worked in the round with needle US #6 / 4.00 mm i.e. one pattern repeat measures 8.5 cm x 10 cm / 3.25 x 4.
24 sts x 32 rows in 10 cm / 4 in Stockinette Stitch worked in the round with needle US #6 / 4.00 mm.
Size child:
24 sts x 30 rows in 10 cm / 4 in cable pattern worked in the round with needle US #7 / 4.50 mm i.e. one pattern repeat measures 10 cm x 10.5 cm / 4 x 4.25.
21 sts x 30 rows in 10 cm / 4 in Stockinette Stitch worked in the round with needle US #7 / 4.50 mm.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Sizes Toddler: to fit an average child(tm)s head with 46-48 cm / 18-19 circumference. Length: beanie - approx 19 cm / 7.5 or slouchy - approx 21 cm / 8.25. Child: to fit an average teen(tm)s head with 52-54 cm / 20-21 circumference. Length: beanie - approx 20.5 cm / 8.25 or slouchy - approx 22.5 cm / 9. Teen/Adult: to fit an average adult(tm)s head with 56-58 cm / 22-23 circumference. Length: beanie - approx 22 cm / 8.75 or slouchy - approx 24 cm / 9.5.

  • Size child: US #4 / 3.5 mm, double-pointed needles or circular (for magic loop technique), or appropriate size to get gauge. US #7 / 4.50 mm, double-pointed needles or circular (for magic loop technique), or appropriate size to get gauge.

You Will Also Need:

  • Notions stitch marker, cable needle, tapestry needle for weaving, pompom maker (optional).
