Pattern Description:

I made this sunhat with 100% cotton yarn for springtime (or autumn) wear. The blue/green hat was made with Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Cotton" and the pink hat was made with Bernat's Cottontots yarn.

The hat is knit in the round in stockinette stitch (all knit stitches because it is in the round). The edging for the brim and the flower are crocheted with a single crochet stitch.


In stockinette stitch: 3.5 sts and 6 rounds = 1 inch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 0-3 mo. - height 6.5 inches, circumference 12.5 inches
  • 4-6 mo. - height 7 inches, circumference 14.5 inches
  • 7-12 mo. - height 7.5 inches, circumference 14.5 inches


  • 1 skein worsted wt. (#4) yarn in main color (MC)
  • 1 skein worsted wt. (#4) yarn in contrasting color (CC)
  • U.S. Size #8 16-inch circular needle
  • U.S. Size #8 double pointed needles
  • Size G/6 crochet hook (for edging)
