Pattern Description:

This cute chicks baby hat has a roll brim and a garter stitch body with a stocking stitch 'circle' for the chirpy chicks motif. The chicks are added using duplicate stitch once the hat has been knit, however they could be added whilst knitting by using the intarsia method. Beads are used for the chicks' eyes, but duplicate stitch in a dark yarn could be used if you prefer. The hat is knit flat on two needles with a seam at the back. The pattern includes row by row written instructions, charts and photos.


22 stitches and 40 rows to 4in/10cm using US 6/4mm needles over garter stitch.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 0-3, 3-6, 6-12, 12-24 months


  • 45[65:85:100]g DK yarn in main colour
  • 15[20:25:30]g DK yarn in contrast colour

You Will Also Need:

  • US 6/4mm knitting needles
  • Tapestry needle for sewing seam and duplicate stitch
  • 2 black knitting beads (optional)
