Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Long Tail CO, knit, purl, knitting in the round, knitting in the front 7 back of a stitch, K2tog, using double point needles.

Pattern Description:

I think of the Cassidy Cap as part of my Simply Pretty Series. It is a simple hat that looks great. More room than a basic hat but not as full as a beret. Named for my friend who awed, raved, begged, cajoled, and nagged me for this pattern. I hope you enjoy knitting them as much as I do.


20 sts & 24 rows = 4"/10 cm in
Stockinette stitch in the round

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • To Fit Head Sizes
  • 15 1/2 (17 1/4, 19, 20 1/2)" around


  • 200 yards worsted weight yarn
  • US 7/4.5mm - 16" circular needle
  • US 7/4.5mm - set of double point needles
  • or size needed to get gauge

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 beginning of the round marker
  • 7 other matching stitch markers
  • large eye needle for weaving in ends
