Pattern Description:

This is a fairly easy pattern. It starts with the cable strip, which is knit flat. Because it varies in width I have written out most of the rows for that part. Just follow along. A small seam joins it. Stitches are then picked up for both the brim and the crown and knit in the round.

Gauge:

20 sts = 4"

Materials:

  • Worsted weight recommended. Sample uses Plymouth Select, 100% machine washable merino wool. 1 Skein for solid colored toque. 2 skeins for 2 colored toque.
  • Cascade 220 is a good choice too
  • 1 set of double pointed and 1 16" circular needle in size recommended by yarn or to obtain gauge.

You Will Also Need:

  • tapestry needle.

Suggested yarn:

200 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Cascade or Plymouth

I grew up surrounded by a family that appreciates art and crafts. I first learned to sew. Then embroider. Then, reluctantly, knitting.
I knit every day. and it has been 30 years.
I also am a batik on silk artist. Something I have been playing with for over 20 years. And while I have never taken a class I have invented my own personal style.
