To have a nice edge, you would need to slip the first stitch and purl the last stitch of every row. Happy knitting :-)

Bi, gorgeous bag. I would like you to arrange to make one for me and I will pay the costs. Would this be possible, please? Thanks, Clareta

Clareta, I've just met an amazing knitter who is making those bags for sale. Please visit her Etsy store at https://www.etsy.com/people/redheadxm0ment?ref=hdr_user_menu to send her a request for the bag. Happy Holidays :-)

Well I added it to my cart (on my iPad) and it comes up on my list of patterns, but when I try to open it, it says I don't have access to this pattern :(

It could be any fibre (wool or cotton), but the yarn should be thick enough to have about 20sts in 4".

WOW!! Beautiful!! I want to knit it!! Charts are confusing.. any way you can publish it in regular knitting instructions?? PLEASE!!

Sorry, but a complicated pattern like this will take a long time to write down. Besides the description will be long and confusing. Chart gives a much better visual presentation of this pattern. Give it a try.

Charting is very confusing...especially for me. Any way you can publish in regular knitting directions?? It looks to be a lovely purse and I'd be delighted to make one.

Kgale - I often write out the directions myself when a chart seems harder to follow. That will also help you get that sequence of stitches in your brain before knitting it! Try it!

I would rather have a written pattern I find the chart confusing. I would love to make this bag but I don't think I can follow the chart.

this is beautiful and I started right away.....but I can't read charts very well at all. when you read left to right, do you also read the chart key left to right? I'm confused and would like the pattern written out as well.

Knitca on craftsy.com

The chart shows only right side rows. On the wrong side you need to work stitches as they appear (knit the sts that look like knit, and purl those sts that look like purl). Read the chart from right to left, always start from the place where the number of the row is written. Each square on the chart means a stitch, symbols show you what kind of stitch it is. Happy knitting!

I think this explains better how to read the chart. I always write myself notes to go along to make it easier to remember.

Hello,

The ladies at my church are making bags to sell to support the effort of a family in Alberta, Canada, who is fostering native children who have been removed from their homes on the reserve due to abuse & neglect, and many of these children are dealing with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome as well.

Would you grant us permission to sell bags made from your Cable Bag pattern to support this cause? All money earned will go to this family. Thank you very much for your consideration!

Please respond to me at megcwheeler (at) hotmail (dot) com. Thank you.

Grace and peace in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
Meg Wheeler
