Pattern Description:

Add a bit of whimsy to your winter with these playful mittens. Knit in a modified Norwegian style with afterthought thumbs, these stranded mittens feature 2-color single ribbing on the cuffs and a rising bubble design that is mirrored on the left and right hands. The pattern comes in two sizes, dk and worsted, and should fit most adult women. Use two high contrasting colors to make the design pop.

Gauge:

Worsted Gauge is 26st/24rows = 4 inches on #5 needles
DK Gauge is 28st/28rows = 4 inches on #4 needles

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • dk version 9in / 22.9cm tall 3.5in / 8.9cm wide 2.5in / 6.4cm cuff 2.5in / 6.4cm thumb length 1.375in / 3.5cm thumb width
  • worsted version 9.75in / 24.8cm tall 3.75in / 9.5cm wide 2.5in / 6.4cm cuff 2.75in / 7cm thumb length 1.5in / 3.8cm thumb width

Materials:

  • #4 (3.5 mm) [dk version], #5 (3.75 mm) [worsted version] set of dpns or long circular for magic loop.
  • dk weight yarn in two colors (approximately 90yds / 82m each)
  • worsted weight yarn in two colors (approximately 90yds / 82m each)
