Pattern Description:

An easy Waffle Stitch pattern gives this hat great texture and makes it fun and easy to knit. It's a quick project and it's just in time for cool weather. The 'slouchy' is a modern take on the classic winter knitted hat. Worked in a bright colour, it will be a hit with any teenager. Or pick your own favourite colour and make a stylish hat for yourself!

Working gauge and finished gauge are both provided in the pattern instructions. Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Pattern stitch is written and charted.


24.5 sts and 32 rows = 4" in pattern worked in the rnd with larger needles.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • One size. Fits approx. head circumference of 22 inches.


  • Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash Sport (100% superwash merino wool; 136 yd [125 m] / 1.75 oz [50 g]). 2 skeins. Shown in #807 raspberry.
  • US size 6 [4.0 mm] 16" [40 mm] circular needle.
  • US size 8 [5.0 mm] 16" [40 mm] circular needle.
  • US size 8 [5.0 mm] double-pointed needles (dpns).

You Will Also Need:

  • marker
  • tapestry needle

190 yards of Sport weight
