Pattern Description:

This fast and fun cowl is snuggly, warm, and a great intro to stranded colourwork knitting to boot! Worked in either fingering weight or DK weight yarn, this is a great project to use up all those little bits of sock yarn or a special fibre.

Fingering weight: 158 yards of MC, total of 84 yards of contrast colours (4 yds for each CC stripe), US 2.5 / 3mm, 16" circular needles. Shown in Koigu KPPPM.

DK weight: 130 yds of MC, 65 yds total of contrast colours, US 6 / 4mm, 16" circular needles. Shown in Handmaiden 4ply cashmere.

Gauge:

Fingering wt: 32 sts and 40 rnds = 4" square in stranded colourwork
DK wt: 24 sts and 28 rnds = 4" square in stranded colourwork

Materials:

  • US 2.5 / 3mm circular needles
  • or US 6 / 4mm circular needles
