It tells me that I have a free pattern but it does not give me the instructions to the Basket weave scarf,so how do I get the instrutions?

Knitca on craftsy.com

The pattern provides both written instructions on pages 1 and 2 of the pattern, and the chart on page 1. You can use either of them. And yes, it is absolutely free. Happy knitting.

Noticed someone else had inquired about the "even row" stitches. Thanks!

I'll look this up, but a slip-stitch----does this just mean "moving" the stitch from the left needle to the right only"?

Knitca on craftsy.com
Knitca  September 12, 2014
Flag as inappropriate

In even rows you need to knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts. Slip stitch means you move a stitch from the left needle to the right needle without knitting or purling it. Happy knitting :-)

Cast on a multiple of 12 stitches + 2 selvage stitches to make the scarf as wide as you need. Happy knitting :-)

I found that by casting on 288 + 2 selvage stitches, it made a good size for an afghan. It puts it just about 4 feet wide. I'm still working on it, but so far so good. I'm not quite sure how much yarn it's going to take, but I started with 4 tims the amount called for in the scarf pattern.

Just remember that a knit stitch on the RS will be a purl on the WS and vice versa. I like to write out the WS rows so i just write out the previous RS row instructions backwards (from end to beginning) and switching the knits to purls and the purls to knits. Hope this helps!

It sounds to me like knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches. So if the stitch is smooth knit it. If it is a bump then purl it.
