Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knitting in the round
  • decreases
  • short rows
  • making bobbles
  • seaming

Pattern Description:

All little children look adorably hilarious in a viking hat.

The band makes use of bobbles to resemble rivets. The pattern explains how to make a bobble.

The horns are shaped with both short rows and decreases to form the curve, then are stuffed and sewn to the hat.


20 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Newborn
  • 3-6 months
  • 6-12 months
  • Toddler


  • US 7 (4.5 mm) 16 inch circular needle
  • 1 set 4 or 5 US 7 (4.5 mm) double-pointed needles
  • Brown yarn- less than 1 skein
  • Gray yarn- small amount
  • Gold yarn- small amount
  • Natural yarn- small amount
