Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Techniques Used: Cable CO, ribbing, knit/purl, decreasing.
  • Experience Level: Adventurous Beginner.

Pattern Description:

Close-fitting, reversible ribbed hat, with alternating cables that decrease in width until they disappear at the crown. An easy introduction to manipulating cables, leading to a pretty, warm hat.

Gauge:

Gauge: 21 st and 28 rows/4" in unstretched K1P1 rib; one 12-stitch pattern repeat = 2.5".

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Size: One size, to fit 20-22" head circumference; 18" brim circumference and 8" depth, unstretched.

Materials:

  • Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted (100% merino wool, 210 yards); 1 skein Azul Bolita.

You Will Also Need:

  • Other Materials: US 9 16" circular needle/DPNs or 32" circular needles if using Magic Loop, or size to match gauge. Cable needle. Stitch markers (8). Yarn needle.
