Pattern Description:
Ardour are lined, stranded mittens, knit on smaller than usual needles to provide warmth. The optional laceweight liner adds softness and a touch of wind resistance. Two cuff options are provided: a ribbed cuff and a colourwork cuff beginning with an i-cord cast on.
Gauge:
28 stitches in 4 inches for the size small
larger sizes are achieved by knitting with larger needles at a looser gauge
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Size small results in a mitten with a 7" (18 cm) circumference around the palm. Medium measures 8" (20 cm) and large measures 9" (23 cm). The larger sizes are achieved by knitting with a larger needle at a looser gauge.
Materials:
- 2 colours of worsted weight yarn. Approximately l110 - 130 yards (100 - 119 m) of main colour are required 90 to 110 yards (80 - 100 m) of contrasting colour 160 to 170 yards (145-165 m) of laceweight yarn for the liner
You Will Also Need:
- Needles: double pointed needles or circular needles for knitting in the round: 3.5 mm (US 4) for small, 4.0 mm (US 6) for medium and 4.5 mm (US 7) for large.
