Basic Skills Necessary:

  • do stranded knitting with at most two colors in one round
  • weave in new yarn and yarn ends during knitting (it will save you a lot of time)

Pattern Description:

Summertime! Holidays!
The ocean, happy colorful fishes and a hidden treasure box are on this cute little beanie.
It has a multicolor ribbing, followed by a band of water plants and treasure boxes. Then follow the colorful fish bands.
At the top is a lovely little sea star, making the top appear like a flower of sea star and little fish.

The beanie is completely knitted in 4-ply sock yarn leftovers.But you can also use Acrylic or Merino yarn of similar weight or a bit thicker.

For bigger versions go up one or two needle sizes and/or use 5-ply yarn or both.

Gauge:

Knitting gauge in stranded pattern: 1 x 1 inch: 7 stitches and 8 rows (2 x 2 cm: 5 stitches and 6
rows).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • This beanie fits size S and M. (about 52 " 54 cm head circumreference). Note: For bigger heads use needle size 3.25 mm or 3.5 mm or 5-ply yarn (e.g. Buttinette Madeleine Merino 150 m/50g) or both.

Materials:

  • You need 4-ply sock yarn in the following colors: about: 30 g in light blue, 15 g in off-white, 15 g in yellow, 15 g in dark orange or red, 10 g dark green, 20 g in dark blue, 15 g in grass green or neon green, (yardage 209 -210 meters/50 g).
  • Circular needle 40 cm 3.00 mm and 5 double pointed needles size 3.00 mm for the top of the head.
  • Note: you can also use Acrylic or Merino yarn of similar weight (4 - 5 ply)

You Will Also Need:

  • Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.

Suggested yarn:

230 yards of Fingering weight
