Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Provisional Cast on and Garter Stitch Tab
  • Increases - make one left and right (M1L/M1R), yarn over (YO)
  • Decreases - k2tog, ssk, s2k1psso
  • Stretchy bind off

Pattern Description:

Aoide was the Ancient Greek titan muse of song and this shawl will make your heart and needles sing. It is a stunning heart-shaped shawl, worked top down in stripey stockinette with a gorgeous lace border and eyelet edging. The pattern is fully written and also has charts for the lace panel. The pattern has been tech edited and test knitted. There's a screenshot of the pattern at the bottom of the photos


20 stitches and 32 rows in 10 cm (4 inches) in stockinette stitch after blocking.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 117 cm long by 69 cm deep (46" by 27") after blocking.


  • 237m (260 yds) of Old Maiden Aunt Merino/Silk 4ply (50% Merino/50% silk, 400 yrds/100g) in Main Colour
  • 146 m (160 yrds) of yrds of Old Maiden Aunt Merino/Silk 4ply (50% Merino/50% silk, 400 yrds/100g) in Contrast Colour
  • 4mm (US 6) circular needles, 61 cm (24") long
  • 2 Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle for sewing in ends
