Pattern Description:
The Anacapa wrap reinvents the traditional Aran sweater for warm climates by substituting lace for textured stitch patterns, and cool cotton for Irish wool. Knit in two halves from the center out, the wrap is generously sized for one or a snuggled two.
Originally published in Knitting in the Sun by Kristi Porter, the Anacapa pattern has been updated with a new cast-on, new written instructions for the cables and lace, and new charts.
This pattern was named for one of the islands off the west coast of America in homage to the Aran islands off the west coast of Ireland.
Gauge:
22 sts/30 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in St st; check your gauge before you begin.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Width: 27 inches (68.5 cm)
- Length: 62 inches (157.5 cm)
Materials:
- Yarn: Knit Picks CotLin DK (70% Tanguis cotton, 30% linen; 123 yd/112.5 m per 50 g ball); color: 24461 Cashew; 16 balls; OR
- Lanaknits Hemp for Knitting Hempton (40% cotton, 30% hemp, 30% Modal; 130 yd/119 m per 50 g ball); color: 069 Pebble; 16 balls
- Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm): one 24-inch Circular Needle; AND
- US 5 (3.75 mm): one 24-inch or longer Circular Needle (for cast-on only)
