Amrei is a very old german woman')s name which I totally love. I don't know why, but I have this picture in my mind of a woman knowing the forests, knowing every herb by name and knowing everything about curing diseases and brewing potions. Surely such a woman would need mitts to protect her hands while gathering herbs, and maybe they would have a small embroidery, showing whom they belong to. Nothing complicated, just a small motif
That was how these mitts came to my mind.
They knit up very quickly and the embroidery is done in a minute, too. All in all it's a quick and lovely project, making the perfect accessoire for yourself or a nice last-minute gift for christmas, too!
The mitts are knitted bottom-up in the round and the motif is applied using duplicate stitch.
16 stitches and 20 rows = 2 inches in stockinette
120 meters of Sport weight

As soon as I started knitting I was bitten by the bug, my stash grew continuously and very soon I found out: It's not possible NOT to design! I love the creative freedom I have, the million possibilities to combine color, shape and material and the everlasting process of learning something new.
