Pattern Description:

The Abernathy Cap is an adorable little unisex hat that is quick to knit up and works beautifully with variegated yarns or in a solid colour. It is begun at the crown, with eyelet increases in a circular pattern, then simple stockinette stitch to the brim. Garter stitch brim & I-cord ties finish this vintage style cap off sweetly!

Yarn Requirements:
Fingering or Sport Weight Yarn
(fabric achieved should have a slight drape and not be stiff):

MC (Cap) - 60 (70, 85, 100, 115, 130, 145, 165, 185) yards
55 (65, 80, 90, 105, 120, 135, 150, 170) meters

CC (Brim & I-Cord) - 10-15 yds (10-15 meters)

Gauge:

24sts & 32 rows = 4" (10cm) in stockinette stitch

Materials:

  • 100-250yds of fingering or sport weight yarn
  • 3.25mm (US 2.5) circular needles
  • 2.5mm (US 1.5) needles
  • safety pin
  • tapestry needle
  • 1 stitch marker
