(6) Name: 'Knitting : Abalone

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Increase/decrease
  • knit/purl

Pattern Description:

I love shawls and have knitted many but find that I don't wear them; after all that work, Shameful!

I found that most of the shapes are angular, where I prefer soft, round shapes. I set out to design a scalloped shawl which could be as deep or shallow as I wish. Bonus: start and end (CO and BO) with only 3 stitches!

Of all the shawls I have knitted over the past 13 years, the Abalone shawls are worn the most!

Pattern is completely written and charted.

22 stitches and 27 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette stitch
