Skill Level:

medium skill level requirement Intermediate

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • cubic right angle weave

Pattern Description:

Nestle a rivoli in a square in a square and surround it with clusters of fringe beads. Wear one as a pendant, join a series into a bracelet, or a necklace - end-to-end or side-by-side. Add another rivoli to the back to make it reversible, or nest the pendant inside yet another square - see where it takes you! You can use two colours of seed beads if you like, but one colour is fine too. The second colour doesn't form a pattern and isn't used as a cue to make the construction easier, so it really is your choice.

You should be comfortble with right angle weave; the project uses cubic right angle weave, a refresher for which is also contained in the instructions.

Step-by-step fully illustrated instructions take you through making the olive pendant, with descriptions of the variations, such as the blue and lavender pendant , or the reversible red and grey mini-pendant .

I have tried almost every fiber art, and currently knit and spin my own yarn. I sew clothes and furnishings occasionally.

I've dabbled in polyclay, lampwork and silver-smithing, but immerse myself in seed beading.

I teach at a local bead store, as well at national shows from time to time. Patterns in my shop are ...
