Simple Frame for an Undrilled Stone
Simple Frame for an Undrilled Stone

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • how to make a bail
  • coiling wire

Pattern Description:

This is a very quick and easy wrap for an undrilled stone. It works great for crystal points (both single and double terminated) as well as tumbled stones. The pendant pictures only took about 30 minutes to complete. I've done some smaller ones in less time than that. This is a style that is great for men's jewelry because it's simple and not overtly feminine, but can also be worn by women as well.

This lesson assumes you already know how to do a few basic techniques. You will need to know how to coil and how to make a bail. You can use one of many methods for making the bail. The one shown here is only an example.

Materials:

  • 20g round dead soft or half hard wire (amount depends on size of stone)
  • 28g round dead soft wire (amount depends on size of stone)
  • 1 Undrilled stone (crystal points and tumbled stones work well for this design)

You Will Also Need:

  • Wire Cutters
  • Chain Nose Pliers
  • Round Nose Pliers
