Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic handling of wire and wire working tools.
  • How to make a wire spiral.

Pattern Description:

This is a terrific clasp for bracelets and necklaces. Toggle clasps are easy to operate and are very secure.

Because they are easy to operate with one hand they make an excellent clasp choice for a bracelet. I designed this particular one for my Wrapped Bead bracelet designs. One of these Wrapped Bead designs is covered in my Double Wrap Beads Tutorial, available here on Craftsy..

You can make these in just about any thickness of wire. You want it to be sturdy enough to maintain its shape.

I use 16 gauge wire in the step by step example. You can make yours smaller and use a smaller gauge of wire.

Try an unwrapped version for starters!

This is a special introductory price for a limited time.

  • 1 1/2 foot 16 gauge (or 18 gauge) dead soft wire
  • 24 or 26 gauge for wrappping the clasp (optional)

You Will Also Need:

  • Round nose pliers
  • Flat or Chain nose pliers
  • Flush wire cutter
  • Larger mandrel - anything round in the 18mm size area will work.
  • Chasing hammer (optional)
  • Anvil (optional)
