Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • flat even count peyote stitch beadweaving
  • assembly of PSI pen kit

Pattern Description:

This pen is made using a pen kit purchased from Penn State Industries. These are the same pen kits used by wood turners. They are well made metal pens. You may be able to find these pen kits other places, but this is where I got mine and I know the pattern will fit them. The beaded design is a rainbow that blends from magenta to limon using 8 of the new luminous or neon Delica beads. You could change it up to be your favorite 8 colors if you choose. You will need to make 2 beaded tubes using flat even count peyote stitch. Zip the tubes closed, glue them on the pen barrels and slide your pen together. This pen has a twist mechanism to extend the ballpoint tip, so gluing the beaded tubes on is necessary.

On the pattern pages, you will get:

I learned to sew before I went to school. My mother, grandmother and aunt sewed everyday. I ran a needle through my right index finger early on, but have never done it again. I am self taught in many craft fields. My most recent is beadweaving. I think I have finally found my passion. I love the feel and look of tiny cylinder beads worked in peyote stitch into a wonderful mosaic of colorful ...
