Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • This is a high level beginner tutorial... it assumes you are familiar with basic wire techniqes, ie cleaning straightening, and making simple bends and loops.

Pattern Description:

The Charming Hearts tutorial teaches, step by step the techniques needed to create perfect little hearts with a relatively small amount of wire (I've created hearts with as little as 2 inches [5.1cm]of wire each).
Create individual charms, with or without bead drops to accentuate a bracelet; create multiple sizes for cute dangle earrings. Add birthstone color beads or crystals to create a charming family bracelet, or use heavy gauge wire to create a simple charming pendant.

This pattern can be created in any metal of your choice; in either round, square, or twisted square wire; any gauge wire from 24g to 12g; in half-hard or dead soft. This tutorial will show you how to create hearts in round wire and heavy gauge square wire, with tips on finishing.

Materials:

  • 4 inches (10.2cm) of wire Optional: headpin and crystal for a beaded center drop.
  • Ruler; Permanent marker (Sharpie); Flush cutters; Round nose pliers (Stepped round nose preferred); Flat nose pliers; Nylon-jaw pliers.
