3-Ribbon Celtic Knotwork or Interlace braid, 12 stitches total width; basic box-corner design with twist
This is a set of patterns for a 3-ribbon "braid," with interwoven twists, designed to fit inside an 8"x10" frame at 18, 16, 14 or 12 stitches per inch, leaving space inside for another design. These will be useful if you want to hang a piece of embroidery on the wall without framing, or if it's a little too small for a standard-size frame to fit and look good.
Or pick your favorite braid-and-corner, and repeat 4 times for a square surround or doily border.
These 4 patterns all use the same 3-ribbon, 12-stitch braid, and the same box corner and twists; they are not identical as the interlacing and number and placement of twists changes to accommodate the different stitch-counts, but are a coordinated set.
Stitches used: Cross stitch; double-running (Holbein) stitch to outline the "ribbons" of the "braid."
SAMPLE PATTERN: The third picture is a free sample pattern. If you'd like to see how my format works for you before you purchase anything, right-click and print or save to your computer.
NOTE: Frame sizes vary; I measured several standard frames at a mall store. Their picture-openings measured 7-5/8 x 9-5/8, and I have allowed approximately a 3/8 to 1/2" margin between the outer edge of the knotwork, and the frame opening.
STITCH COUNTS: The second picture is a chart of the stitch counts for each pattern included in this set. Check your stitch count to be sure there's enough room for a pleasing margin between the frame and the knotwork, and between the knotwork and other embroidery in the center.
What you get: 1, 10-page PDF document (8.9 Mb) containing 4 patterns, each in 2 versions, with and without a light-gray background grid showing individual stitches.
