Ten floral motifs in vibrant colours, using a variety of hand embroidery stitches
The thinking behind Full Blooms was to create a range of motifs with a floral theme that could be used and adapted for any embroidery project. It's one of five patterns that I created at the same time (see Jumbo Paisley, Mod Foliage, Super Stars and Sweet Hearts) and the idea is to mix and match the motifs or stitch them as standalone designs to embellish pretty much anything. You could use them to create a set of something, such as napkins, or to add an individual touch to similar items, perhaps dresses for your (grand)daughters. Or you could simply have fun arranging them to create your own embroidery design.
This is a 12-page digital pattern in PDF format.
The pattern includes:
Needle and thread requirements : A list of the DMC six-stranded cotton colours used in the stitched examples and the required needle types and sizes for the embroidery shown.
Transfer instructions : Various options for transferring the designs on to fabric.
Full, illustrated embroidery instructions : The stitch types, DMC thread colours and number of strands to use are given in full for each of the 10 designs, as well as any additional instructions needed to complete the embroidery.
Reference photographs : Full-colour, close-up photos of each of the designs for reference when stitching.
Full-size designs : The 10 designs are given at actual size (100%) for easy home printing, but can be enlarged or reduced to suit your needs. The Full Bloom motifs range in size from around 2 x 2" (5x5cm) to 41/2 x 41/2" (12x12cm).
Reversed designs : All 10 designs are also given in reverse, should you choose to use the iron-on transfer method, and include a transfer test design.
Printing : The PDF document is set up to fit on A4 or US letter sized paper when printed on a home printer.
Tips : Tips scattered here and there in the pattern help make the most of your embroidery.

I quickly ran out of projects to stitch when I started embroidering a good few years back now and began coming up with my own more modern designs, using the skills I'd picked up working in the media industry. It was a small leap from there to making these designs available to others. I launched my website and first online pattern shop in 2009 while living in London, UK. But I now work from home in Johannesburg, coming up with fresh, contemporary designs that use a variety of surface embroidery stitches.View all patterns by designer (94) »
