Celtic Promise

from Elves at Work
(10) Name: 'Embroidery : Celtic Promise
Celtic Promise Celtic Promise

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Simple backstitch (Blackwork) stitching on counted thread fabric (Aida cloth or evenweave fabric).

Pattern Description:

I designed this as a wedding sampler (see the rings in the center corners of the design). You can easily add names and a wedding date beneath the design to personalize your project.

I love Blackwork of Backstitch designs because they can be completed so quickly with few or no color changes. They are a great take-along project when traveling because they require so few supplies, all of which are readily available in any craft or hobby store.

These are great designs for beginners, as only one type of stitch is required. If you mark the center of your stitching fabric, and work your stitching from the center out, it will be very easy to follow the chart and keep your place, and ensure that your design will always be perfectly centered on your fabric.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished size of design is approximately 7x7".

  • 12x12" 14-count Aida or 28-count Evenweave fabric.

You Will Also Need:

  • Embroidery needle and hoop or stretcher frame.
