When I was little my dad always brought home big heart shaped balloons on Valentine's Day, and I couldn't have been more excited about it! Roses? Teddy bears? Jewelry? No thanks! I'll just take all of your balloons, please. Or, better yet, I'll practice all my favorite fill stitches and make some heart shaped balloons for myself that won't ever deflate.
Intended for 6" embroidery hoop.
DMC Floss: 3835: Medium Grape, 761: Light Salmon, 350: Medium Coral, 310: Black.
Materials Required: 2 12" squares of muslin or other woven cotton fabric, fabric marking pen or pencil, safety pins or masking tape, 6" or smaller embroidery hoop to use while stitching, embroidery needle, scissors.
Notes: Use 2 strands of DMC Floss throughout, unless otherwise noted.
Be sure to copy the edges of each heart that runs off the edge of the circle while copying the pattern to your fabric, but you will not stitch these lines.
Stitches Used Backstitch, Long and Short Stitch, Lattice Stitch, Satin Stitch, French Knots.
