Crochet your own Trix the Pixie with this pattern!
While their most recent celebrity status was being featured in Harry Potters Chamber of Secrets, the Cornish Pixie has ancient origins in folklore and mythology. It is believed that the high moorland areas around Devon and Cornwall is their original home.
Pixies love to sing and dance and often gather outdoors in huge numbers to frolic through the night. They are sly, tricky and mischievous, always looking for trouble. They enjoy playing tricks on and teasing mortals. "Pixie-led", is an enchantment that will cause mortals to wander aimlessly through the forest, muttering in strange tongues. Most poor souls are never found. To ward off this fate tis common for mortals to wear their coats inside out and backward in an effort to confuse the Pixies...though really it just makes the Pixies peal with laughter. Peasants are also said to try and humor the Pixies by leaving sweetened milk out for them and sweeping their hearths for Pixie dancing.
Pixies are deeply rooted in magic and of all the races, pixies are among the most intelligent, very wise and dexterous. A pixie can be your best friend or your worst enemy. They bear the secret of pixie dust, one of their greatest weapons which they can use to make themselves invisible or put others to sleep. They may not be physically strong but attacking one would be ill advised, as pixies are very close knit and loving of one another, attacking one will bring on the wrath of all.
