Pattern Description:

Tess the Turtle will SLLOOOWLLLLY crawl into your heart with her sleepy eyes, pretty shell and winning smile. ~~~ Show her to your family and I'll bet they want her to be the next critter in their menagerie of toys.


To be perfectly honest I never pay attention to the gauge when doing critters. Just know that if you use a thicker yarn and bigger hook, you're going to get a bigger critter (which is actually a great way to get a Mama or Papa critter!)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 7" tall, 5" long


  • 1/8 skein of Red Heart SuperSaver "Light Sage
  • 1/8 skein of metallic green yarn
  • 1/8 skein Red Heart SuperSaver "Paddy Green"
  • 2 yds Red Heart Super Saver White
  • 2 yds Red Heart Super Saver Black
  • 3.75mm [US F] crochet hook
  • 2.5mm [US steel "O"]
  • yarn needle

You Will Also Need:

  • 6mm safety eyes - two
  • small amt of plastic canvas
  • polyester filler for stuffing
  • dried beans for weight
