Welcome to HanJan Crafts

A few years ago I had an operation on my knee and couldn't go very far for 6 weeks so my Mum taught me to crochet and now I simply can't stop. It's gone from making gifts ...

I love this pattern, like some others I struggled initially to make the 5 sc's line up but I made some adjustments to make it work. I found the US double crochet made the holes look too big so I just did UK double crochet and it looks better for the dk wool I'm using :)

" Hi, i have a question about the Crochet Gentle Cream Zigzag Baby Blanket. In the "edging for each panel", for row #1, you say we should end with 192 stitches. but because the panels are 91 rows long, and i'm making 2 sc for each row, i end up with 182 stitches... i'm missing 10 stitches. is there something i'm doing wrong?
i hope to hear from you soon!"

I am having problems on row 2. I tried skipping the doubles as stated but, my pattern looks NOTHING like the one above. My 5 doubles are not lining up at all. Do we skip the doubles only or do we skip stitches????

Rather than working this blanket in 3 panels, can I just add the side panel chains and make this as one, continuous piece?

Hi there! Please help! I'm having trouble with the edging... If I do 2sc in each 3chain space I end up with 93 st?? Can't work out how you got 192st??!! I think I must be interpreting it wrongly! Please help!!
Thanks heaps, Paula

Hi there, thanks for your message. If you do 2sc in the side of each row along the long edge that should give you the right number but as long as it lays nice and flat and you have an even number then the edging will work with a few more or less either way! Hope that helps. Best wishes, Hannah

Hi Karen, thanks for your comment - you need to make sure that you do a dc in each of the 5dc in between the shells so that you don't keep making shells. I'm sure it looks really pretty with them though! Hope that helps. Best wishes, Hannah

Am i missing something? I keep making shell rows. Rows one and 2 but the rows that show a straight even stitch i cannot find. It does not look like the pattern. I am new to crocheting so maybe i am doing this wrong? Please, help!

Hello! Sorry for the silly question, but does 4 ply mean worsted weight or something else? Just want to double check before I start. Thanks!

Hi there, thanks for your message - 4ply means fingering weight yarn so that the blanket is lovely and light and soft when finished. You can use worsted weight if you like, you will just need to use a larger hook and will end up with a slightly bigger blanket. Hope that helps and that you enjoy making it! Best wishes, Hannah

I love this pattern, but I can't get past the row of 65. Each time I try, I end up with too few stitches to do "1dc in each of next 5sc: repeat from * ending with 1dc in each of the last 2sc." Can you help? Perhaps the PDF is faulty?

Hi there, thanks for your message. I think I see where it is going wrong. You need to end the row with 1dc in the last 2sc after you miss 3dc and leave out the 1dc in the 5dc as the pattern has been before. This gives you a smaller version of the zigzag to turn with. Hope this helps, best wishes Hannah from HanJan

Could you please clarify if there are panels that are sewn together to complete this blanket or is it crocheted as one continuous piece?

HanJan Crochet on craftsy.com

Thanks for your message - it is made up of panels that are then crocheted together to make a textured seam. Hope that helps.

I have a little problem with the US pattern. Even if I've tried to follow all the instructions carefully I still have problems finishing the first row... because if I follow the instructions, the next row just doesn't fit.
Maybe it's my faut, well, definitely it MUST be my fault, but anyway, Could you please check if there are any missing chain at the end of the first row in central panel?
Thank you very very much.
Diana
