Wall Hanging

Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • This is a pattern for all crochet lovers who are acquainted with the basics of crochet. You should just already know how to crochet in rounds in back or front loops, how to make magic ring, sc, dc, tr, inc and front post stitches (everything is explained in the pattern)! This easy to follow pattern (8 pages) is written for one size. It contains step by step full written instructions in English using standard crochet abbreviations and US terms (stitch guide is given in the pattern). It also contains lots of pictures explaining all the tricky and difficult places.

Pattern Description:

This mini mandala garland is ideal as a wall decoration, but mandalas can also be used as applique for a pillow cover, bag, curtains and even clothes!

Recently I've got acquainted with completely new crochet technique for me - Overlay Crochet. And I fell in love with it! I really enjoy creating mandalas. when I crochet them I get a feeling as if I am actually drawing: round after round, layer after layer. And with different color combinations the result is always unpredictable. :)

Gauge is not important for this pattern but mandala should stay flat!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • The size of finished mandala depends on the yarn and hook you use. My mandala is approx. 11 cm (4 1/2 inches) with dots.

  • You will need yarn leftovers of five colors (I used 100% viscose yarn "Jazz" (100g/3.5 oz., 236m/216 yds.), steel crochet hook which will give you acceptable gauge (I used US 3 hook/ 3 mm), scissors and tapestry needle to weave in ends.

Suggested yarn:

50 yards of Sport weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

You can use any yarn you like!

You can use any colors you like!

I am not an educated designer. I studied journalism and opera singing, I edited a magazine and sang in a quire. But crocheting and knitting has always been the greatest passion of mine.

A nice red-haired woman Raisa taught me to crochet in a ...
