Basic Skills Necessary:

  • This is a pattern for intermediate crocheters, though "adventurous" beginners can also handle it. You should already know how to crochet in rounds in back or front loops, how to make magic ring, inc, slst, sc, PF and SPsc. This easy to follow pattern (8 pages) is written for one size. It contains step by step full written instructions in English using standard crochet abbreviations and US terms (stitch guide is given in the pattern). It also contains lots of pictures explaining all the tricky and difficult places.

Pattern Description:

Few months ago I got acquainted with completely new crochet technique for me - Overlay Crochet. And I fell in love with it! I really enjoy creating mandalas. when I crochet them I get a feeling as if I am actually drawing: round after round, layer after layer. And with different color combinations the result is always unpredictable :)

Gauge is not important but the coaster should stay flat.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • The size of finished coaster depends on the yarn and hook you use. My coaster is approx. 12,5 cm (5") with dots.

  • You will need yarn leftovers of four colors (I used 100% cotton yarn "Camilla" (50g/1.76 oz., 125m/137 yds.), steel crochet hook which will give you acceptable gauge (I used US 3 hook/ 3 mm), scissors and tapestry needle to weave in ends.

Suggested yarn:

60 yards of Fingering weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Camilla/Catania cotton yarn or any yarn you have :)

You can use any colors you like
