Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You should already know how to ch, sl st, sc, hdc and dc.
  • Additional stitches explained in the instructions.

Pattern Description:

The subtle design of this valance adds a romantic element to your room. The optional tassels provide an additional dimension.

This is a great project for the intermediate crocheter. In addition to detailed instructions, a graph is also provided for reference. The valance is worked from the top down with the rod pocket incorporated into the design. Instructions are included to increase the width in 9" increments.

This pattern is written in U.S. terms


Working in pattern:
19 rows = 4"
10 ch-4 sps/shells = 4-1/2"

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 63" wide x 17" long from the rod pocket (not including tassels)


  • Cotton crochet thread, size 10, in 350 yd. (320 m) balls - light brown (4 balls)
  • Size 7 (1.65 mm) steel crochet hook

You Will Also Need:

  • 5/8" diamater curtain rod
  • Optional tassels are created with embroidery floss and 6mm jump rings
