I am a size 2-3 X , does this pattern go up to those sizes? If so, I was thinking doing one Redheart SOFT yarn rose bluse. What do you think?

Yes, you can follow the instructions for the large/extra large and instructions are included for making the outer circle larger for larger bust sizes. I think the soft yarn would work well. Thanks

I am making this for my daughter-in-law who should wear the small-medium. The back piece is the right size but as I have just about finished the rounds, it seems very small. I have finished round 6 and it sure does not seem like it will fit her. What can I do? Pull it all out and start over with the large?

Hi - See how it fits across the shoulders. The crochet rounds become part of the collar. See how it's folded at the top? If your gauge is right and if the width of the back fits okay, then the collar should continue to enlarge and fit fine. If you feel it fits small across the shoulders at the back, then you may want to make the larger size. Hope that helps. Thanks

Hi, I'm thinking of starting this pattern, I'm a size 14-16 can the size be altered? I'm quite wide across back and chest, so worried it will be a little stretched

I think following the Large/Extra Large instructions will be fine for you. It's wider across the back. Then you can work the outer circle as you like to fit across the bust.

It calls for a worsted weight acrylic. I've used Vanna's Choice or I Love This Yarn.

I started off using yarn that is a bit too thick - I had it on hand - Lion Brand Chunky USA. The detail doesn't show like it does in this photo. I'm not getting the holes - so - does this come in a knitting pattern? I'm glad I have the pattern I guess but I wish I could have read it better before paying 5.00 for it.

Hi Barb - I check comments when I can. It's been a busy week with a school play and work schedule! This is written for worsted weight and chunky weight would end up completely different. While I do knit, I am not a knit wear designer. This pattern is only available in crochet. If you are truly unhappy with your purchase, please email me at lazytcrochet@yahoo.com. Thanks

Help please!
Just about to start round 1 and I notice that the stitch count should be 142 by the end of it but since each row is 38 stitches and there is two lots of 30 chains that makes 38+38+30+30 = 136. Any ideas?

*g* It'd probably help if I read the pattern properly! The first row had 44 stitches making 142 at the end of round 1.

I'm about to start the edging of the back section in the larger size. I, too, am having trouble making the math work before starting. My back piece has 47 double crochets in width, double that for top edge and bottom edge and add 64 chains (32 on each end) and you get an even number, not an odd number. Can you explain your "crochet math"? I also had trouble getting the 47 stitches on the previous rows...had to double crochet in what I consider the 'same stitch' as the chain two at the end of the previous rows to get 47 stitches. My brain is having trouble with the leap from 47 stitches wide to the 167 stitches for the perimeter/edging round 1. By my calculations the stitch count should be 47+47+32+32 = 158....WAY OFF from the 167 the pattern calls for. If nothing else, this number should be an even number, right? Help? I'm hesitant to proceed until I have a better understanding of the stitch count and how to achieve it for round 1, as I assume the remainder of the rounds rows will depend on getting the first round correct:)

I LOVE this design! Well-written pattern, worth the money. I picked the pattern up last night and just about have it completed. I don't think this one I'm working on is going to fit me, but I'm sure it will find a home. I admit I didn't take measurements. I do plan on tweaking it to make it a size or 2 bigger. As was mentioned before, you may want to consider including notes on adjusting the size. I have a full figure and this design attracted me because it looks like it could be kind to my shape. I'm sure others would feel the same way :-)

I noticed at the bottom of the pattern that you cannot sell the finished product. This should have been included in the pattern listing. It's a wonderful pattern, but had I have known this condition was tacked on to it, I would not have bought it. As with so many stitchers, I buy patterns to sell my finished items to support my family. I always include a link to the designer in my listings so that they can get business too. But I won't buy patterns that I can't sell my finished work from. At least I know this now.

I had the same problems. The pattern runs small. To remedy this I used a larger hook for one size larger and thicker yarn with larger hook for two sizes larger. Also, if I had know I couldn't sell the end product I probably would not have bought it. I also give credit to the designer.

It ran small for me, also. I loved the pattern and style though. The pattern was easy to follow, written very well, and I am going to make another one in a different color, so I'll just use a hook in a size or 2 larger.

I'm not quite done yet, so I can't honestly answer about the ruffling. One thing that comes to mind though... Did you try blocking it?

gonnabacma on craftsy.com
gonnabacma  October 3, 2013
Flag as inappropriate

I had the same problem, and I'm not exactly sure how to alleviate it (yet), but I am planning to make a 2nd one in the near future. I wanted the fullness in the front for the drapey (if that's a word, ) look, but it was a little more ruffled in the back than I cared for. I think it probably will be as simple as increasing in the front but not the back (or not as many increases in the back); I just haven't done it yet. HTH.

So theoretically if you just wanted a shrug you could leave the part of the pattern off with the circular collar and you'd have just that. Correct?

No. It starts with just a square back. Starting the circle collar also creates the arm hole openings.

I think it would be important to note how to increase/decrease the size of the base square for a good fit. The count of stitches isn't important that I can see. Making that base the correct size for your back measurement is important. If this doesn't fit you have a lot of work and yarn down the tube.

Yes - I made this according to instructions but ended up ripping it all out as it puckered across the back at the bottom of the arm holes. Probably would have been eliminated if I had taken measurements and customized it to those. I was so bummed out as it was very pretty.
