Gauge checkpoints are given in the pattern. Gauge is very important for proper sizing of the hat. Please take the time to check for proper gauge and adjust yarn or hook size as necessary.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • XSmall fits approximate 12.5-14" head circumference (premie/newborn)
  • Small fits approximate 14.5-16" head circumference (newborn to 6 months)
  • Medium fits approximate 16.5-18" head circumference (3 - 9 months)
  • Large fits approximate 18.5-20" head circumference (9 months - 3 years)
  • XLarge fits approximate 20.5-22" head circumference (3 years-teen)
  • A Note about sizing-please keep in mind these sizes and ages are approximate. If the child you are making the hat for is right on the edge of the size guideline, you may want to make the larger size. Also, the type of yarn can make a difference. 100% cotton does not yield (stretch) the same as acrylic or wool. Please adjust your sizing accordingly.

  • H/8 (5.00 mm) hook or size needed to obtain correct gauge
  • worsted weight yarn (Bernat CottonTots used in photos)

You Will Also Need:

  • stitch marker
  • yarn needle
