Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Double Crochet - DC
  • Single Crochet - SC
  • 2-DC TOG

Pattern Description:

This basic hat pattern is very versatile, and suitable for both beginners and intermediate
crocheters. I've included the US and the UK stitch versions.
Make yourself a slouch hat, or increase and continue adding rows for a rasta tam.
The size given is for an adult regular, but you can use a smaller hook if you need to reduce
the size, or just add another decrease row to cinch the brim in some more.
I've included optional peak directions, but if you don't need it, just stop after row 16.

6 dc's/tr's and 3 rows = 2 inches.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 8 - 9 inches from the top of the hat to the brim edge, depending on yarn used. 22 inches around the brim of the hat, which is suitable for most adults. It does stretch a little as well. The peak should be about 1 1/2 - 2 inches long.

  • I hook - 5.50mm.
  • Chunky or Aran Yarn (as in green and brown example) - Atleast 140 yards, 128 metres. or 2 strands DK Weight Yarn (as in gray striped example) - Atleast 280 yards, 256 metres.

You Will Also Need:

  • Yarn needle to weave in ends.
