Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Starting a Hat with Slip Stitches
  • Crochet in-the-round

Pattern Description:

The Zig Beanie (AKA The Charlie Brown)

A double ribbed, zig-zag design never seen before in hat crochet. A great beanie pattern to learn concentric diamond creation (top) and, of course, the zigs.

Gauge:

Diameter Method - It is recommended that the diameter of the working piece meets the values listed in the pattern for rounds 3 through 8.

Following this gauge will allow you to create a Medium beanie. Make sure to press the working piece flat with a ruler and measure the longest distance across through the center.

Materials:

  • Worsted Weight Yarn - 4 - Medium
  • Wool or other animal fibers that allow for blocking - Highly Recommended

You Will Also Need:

  • Crochet Hook H/8 - 5.0 mm OR as needed to meet gauge
  • Tapestry Needle and Ruler

Suggested yarn:

150 yards of Worsted weight
