Pattern Description:

If you're happy and you know it, make a scarf!

Create this fun pocket scarf to keep hands warm and happy! The scarf features rounded edges and smiley face pockets.

The pattern features 2 sizes - child and adult. Instructions are included to adjust the scarf for a custom length.

This was inspired by my niece and her sunny personality and love for all things smiley face!


6 stitches and 9 rows = 4"

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Child (4-12 years) - 50" (1.4m) long x 5" (12.7cm wide
  • Adult - 60" (1.52m) long x 5 1/2" (14 cm) wide
  • Custom Size - instructions to adjust scarf for custom length.


  • 5 oz (170g) yellow worsted weight yarn
  • Size J (6.0mm) crochet hook
  • Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Scrap of black yarn
  • 4 - 1" (25 mm) black buttons
  • Needle and black sewing thread

Suggested yarn:

5 ounces of Worsted weight
